Palma Christi is an excellent source of natural vitamin
E. The properties of this vitamin are particularly interesting
in terms of cosmetic benefits.
- Anti-free radicals:
One of the natural functions of vitamin E is to protect
the organism from the effects of free radicals.
These agents are responsible for the degeneration of
the body's tissues.
Regular application of vitamin E slows down the aging
of the skin.
- Moisturizing:
By reinforcing the protective lipids on the skin's surface,
vitamin E improves the skin's capacity to act as a barrier;
moisture loss is therefore diminished with each application.
The anti-aging
properties of vitamin E are a consequence of its moisturizing
activity: by increasing the skin's ability to retain
water, vitamin E enhances the suppleness of the skin
and wrinkles diminish in amplitude--skin becomes softer
and more elastic.
- Anti-inflammatory:
A number of pharmacological studies have demonstrated
this anti-inflammatory activity with local application,
showing that vitamin E diminishes erythema and oedema.
It follows that vitamin E has a positive effect on sunburn,
among others.
- Improved cutaneous microcircultion:
Vitamin E improves microcirculation by facilitating
blood vessel flow. This permits a greater quantity of
nutrients to reach the skin as well as a more efficient
elimination of waste products.
The effects of vitamin E on hair
growth can be attributed to this circulatory
action at the level of the hair root.
